Officials say that the tractor-trailer crashed in the eastbound lanes of Route 7 near Clairborne Parkway early on Wednesday, Nov. 30, leading to a response from multiple state and local agencies.

As of around 8:15 a.m. on Wednesday morning, traffic was backed up for approximately four miles, near Battlefield Parkway. The Clairborne Parkway South exit ramp to Route 7 eastbound is also closed.

Motorists have been advised to avoid the area to allow first responders ample room to work at the scene, according to the Virginia Department of Transportation.

An empty tanker has been escorted to the scene to pick up the 8,000 gallons of fuel, according to officials, who advised the incident could last several hours on Wednesday.

No injuries were initially reported.
